    Meet Kate Brewster

I’m Kate Brewster, a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience working within the NHS. My passion for supporting people with lymphatic and swelling conditions led me back to Lancashire University, where I completed specialist training in Chronic Oedema Management.

I later trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) with the Lymphoedema Training Academy, gaining advanced skills in supporting clients with lymphoedema, lipoedema, and post-surgical recovery.

Through LymphoCare, I combine my clinical background with a compassionate, person-centred approach — helping each client understand their condition, feel confident in self-care, and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised massage technique that helps support the body’s lymphatic system.

It encourages natural drainage of lymph fluid, which is essential for healing and recovery.

MLD can be beneficial for a range of conditions, including lymphoedema, lipoedema, and post-surgical swelling.

    Lipoedema Management

Lipoedema causes an abnormal build-up of fat and fluid in the legs, arms, and sometimes other areas.  Often this leads to pain, heaviness, and bruising.

MLD helps by improving lymphatic circulation, reducing fluid congestion, and supporting healthy tissue function.

Regular MLD can help ease discomfort, reduce swelling, and improve mobility and skin health. Many clients also report feeling lighter, more comfortable, and more confident after treatment.

Compression garments play a vital role in the long-term management of lymphoedema and lipoedema. They work by applying gentle, graduated pressure to the affected area, helping to support the lymphatic system and prevent fluid from building up again after treatment.

Wearing properly fitted compression garments helps to:

    • Maintain limb size after Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
    • Improve lymph flow and circulation
    • Reduce swelling and heaviness
    • Support skin health and prevent infections such as cellulitis

Consistency is essential — regular use of compression garments helps keep swelling under control and supports the long-term success of your lymphoedema management plan.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised technique, that helps prepare the body for surgery and supports recovery afterwards.

Before surgery, MLD can help to stimulate the lymphatic system, improving circulation and reducing tissue congestion. This creates an optimal environment for healing and may help to minimise swelling or bruising after the procedure.

After surgery, MLD is often recommended to reduce post-operative swelling, inflammation, and discomfort. It helps the body to clear excess fluid and waste products, encourages faster healing, and can improve the appearance of scars and tissue recovery.

MLD is particularly beneficial following cosmetic, orthopaedic, or reconstructive surgery, and is always carried out gently and safely according to your stage of healing.

Cosmetic MLD-Facial Rejuvenation and Body Contouring

While MLD is widely used to manage conditions such as lymphoedema and lipoedema, it’s also highly valued for its cosmetic and aesthetic benefits. The gentle, rhythmic movements of MLD help to:

    • Reduce puffiness and fluid retention
    • Improve skin tone and radiance
    • Support healing after cosmetic or surgical procedures
    • Enhance body contour and definition
    • Promote relaxation and wellbeing

Many clients describe feeling lighter, more sculpted, and refreshed after treatment — making MLD not only a clinical therapy but also a natural way to restore balance and confidence in your body.

Whether you’re preparing for surgery, recovering afterwards, or simply looking to boost your circulation and glow, LymphoCare offers tailored treatments to meet your needs.

    Education and Self Care Support

Living with lymphoedema or lipoedema requires ongoing care and understanding — and education is key. At LymphoCare, I provide personalised guidance to help you take an active role in managing your condition.

During your sessions, you’ll learn practical self-care techniques such as skin care, self-massage, simple exercises, and how to apply or care for compression garments correctly. These small daily habits can make a big difference in controlling swelling, maintaining comfort, and preventing complications such as cellulitis.

Ongoing support and education help you to feel confident and in control of your condition. My goal is to ensure every client understands how their lymphatic system works, what triggers to avoid, and how to keep their limbs as healthy as possible between treatments.

    Manual lymphatic Drainage in Pregnancy

During pregnancy, many women experience swelling in the legs, ankles, or hands due to changes in circulation and increased pressure on the lymphatic system. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a safe, gentle, and effective way to help reduce this swelling and support overall comfort and wellbeing.

At LymphoCare, MLD treatments for pregnancy are adapted to each stage, with care taken to ensure complete safety and relaxation. The technique encourages the natural movement of lymph fluid, helping to ease heaviness, improve mobility, and promote a sense of lightness.

Pregnancy MLD can also support recovery after birth, helping to reduce postnatal swelling and fluid retention.

    Palliative & Cancer Care

At LymphoCare, compassionate, nurse-led care is at the heart of every treatment.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, I understand the physical and emotional challenges that can come with cancer, treatment side effects, or palliative conditions. My role is to provide gentle, effective therapies that bring comfort, relieve symptoms, and support quality of life.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) can play a valuable role in palliative and cancer care — helping to reduce swelling, ease discomfort, and promote relaxation. It can also support healing after surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy by improving circulation and encouraging natural fluid balance.

Every treatment is tailored to your needs, with your comfort, dignity, and wellbeing as the top priority.

Whether you’re managing lymphoedema, experiencing swelling after treatment, or seeking calm and relief, LymphoCare offers a safe and supportive environment for you and your loved ones.
